Review: Death Defying Devil #2

Before, I have to make a brief summary about the character, Daredevil (as it is originally known) was created in 1940 by Jack Binder and would appear in Silver Streak # 6, the popularity of the character would earn his own number called “Daredevil battles Hitler”, later Daredevil would become a public domain character and used by several publishers until he landed now in Dynamite with the name Death Defying Devil, surely not to cause controversy with Marvel’s Daredevil (we don’t want Mr. Mouse get angry).

In this issue Devil continues in the Winslow House which serves as a refuge for some people and is the only place they can call home, however the house is in a bad place where criminals and gangsters do not give truce to the peaceful inhabitants of the home, fortunately Devil is there to protect the innocent, in particular the sweet Mrs. Thomas former movie star and this is how a simple walk to the Market will become a dangerous adventure for our hero who also must face supernatural forces.

It was really a very interesting review because Death Defying Devil is written by someone whom I admire a lot: Gail Simone, besides that Devil is an iconic golden age character who relives a good time now from Dynamite Comics in his Project Superpowers that brings other forgotten heroes like The American Spirit, The Black Terror and others, the art goes by Walter Geovani who does a spectacular job with the hero, Did you know that it’s his very first superhero comic?, really a great comic that must read and you (yes you!) if you have not read it What do you expect to do it?

Antes hay que hacer un breve resumen sobre el personaje, Daredevil (como originalmente se le conoce) fue creado en 1.940 por Jack Binder y aparecerÃa en Silver Streak #6, la popularidad del personaje harÃa que se ganara su propio nÃºmero llamado “Daredevil battles Hitler”, con el pasar del tiempo Daredevil pasarÃa a ser un personaje de dominio pÃºblco y empleado por varias editoriales hasta aterrizar ahora en Dynamite con el nombre Death Defying Devil, seguramente para no causar controversia con Daredevil de Marvel Comics (no queremos enojar al seÃ±or ratÃ³n).

En este nÃºmero Devil continÃºa en la Casa Winslow la cual sirve refugio para algunas personas y es el Ãºnico lugar que pueden llamar hogar, sin embargo la casa se encuentra en un mal vencidario donde malvados criminales no dan tregua a los pacÃficos habitantes del hogar, afortunadamente Devil se encuentra allÃ para proteger al inocente, en particular a la dulce seÃ±ora Thomas antigua estrella del cine y es asÃ como una simple caminata al Supermercado se convertirÃ¡ en una peligrosa aventura para nuestro hÃ©roe quien deberÃ¡ enfrentarse a fuerzas sobrenaturales ademÃ¡s.

Ralmente fue un muy interesante review ya que Death Defying Devil estÃ¡ escrito por alguien a quien admiro mucho: Gail Simone (tienen que seguir su trabajo ya ademÃ¡s su Twitter) ademÃ¡s que Devil es un icÃ³nico personaje de la golden age quien revive una buena Ã©poca ahora de mano de Dynamite Comics en su Project Superpowers que trae a otros hÃ©roes olvidados como The American Spirit, The Black Terror y otros, el arte corre por parte de Walter Geovani quien hace un espectacular trabajo con el hÃ©roe Â¿SabÃan que es su primer cÃ³mic de superhÃ©roes?, realmente un maginÃfico cÃ³mic que deben leer y tÃº (si tÃº) si no lo has leÃdo Â¿Que esperas para leerlo?
