REVIEW: Deathstroke #9

Deathstroke #9
Written by Tony S. Daniel & James Bonny
Pencils by Equaroo Pansica
Inks by Sandu Florea
Letters by Dave Sharpe
Let’s judge this book by its cover… Full on battle between Deathstroke and Superman. Gorgeous art, eye-catching and exciting. It actually mirrors what happens inside.

The facts are these… Deathstroke has been given a god blade, a sword with the power to kill a god. Traveling to Wonder Woman’s home island he set free a powerful Titan by mistake meaning instead to kill him. Now Wonder Woman and Deathstroke must team up to save the island and the world.

Now if you’re sitting comfortably we can begin… Wonder Woman, the Amazons and Deathstroke are battling Lapetus and his army when Deathstroke separates to fight Lapetus alone, using the God Slayer blade, Deathstroke still is no match for a Titan. Wonder Woman joins the fight and the pair stand their ground being overcome by the might of Lapetus. Throwing Wonder Woman aside Lapetus makes his way to free his Titan brothers as Superman arrives just in time to misinterpret the situation and begin to battle Deathstroke. With the blade Deathstroke is able to last longer than even he thought was possible against Superman. But Before superman can end the fight Wonder Woman stops him and tells him of the real threat. Lapetus explodes from the ground with his lost weapon ready to kill man and god who stand against him. To be continued.

The action doesn’t stop in this comic. Having a threat so big even Wonder Woman and Superman are out gunned is very interesting to see. Deathstroke being the anti hero, having to save the day after being the one responsible is great to read. The art and the writing make it not only easy to read but a pleasure.

The Good, the Bad and the Star rating…
The Good- Artwork. Story and having superman and Wonder Woman onboard doesn’t hurt.
Th Bad- Having so much action in tells very little of the overall story. This battle issue though gorgeous adds nothing to the story but Superman’s involvement.
The Stars- 4 stars is fair for this issue. Had it added a little more to Lapetus as a character maybe it could have been a 5 star comic.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
