It’s not every day when you read a book that screams badass right from the cover. I’m pleased to report that DeathSworn has done just that. Karl O’Rowe takes us into a galaxy that will harvest the energy from the suns to survive, and where survival of the fittest reigns supreme. Right out of the gate, the style of the cover rocks some epic coloring that brings back that glorious feeling of the comics of the 80s and 90s with the wall to wall color. O’Rowe brings his talents of not only writing but all the illustration in this epic tale.
We’re introduced to DeathSworn who is currently in custody of The Darkstars which what appears to include quite the rap sheet. It’s not long before the action starts that pits DeathSworn in a Gladiator type scenario where he battles in front of a crowd. I must admit those scenes were intense, and ones that I hope we’re able to see in animated form because that would be absolutely amazing. The adventure really kicks off as DeathSworn breaks out of the custody he’s in, and all the adventures that comes with it.
Chapters 1 & 2 provided a lot of action and story depth that I am excited and intrigued to see where the story takes us. One thing that I admire the most about the book is knowing that O’Rowe did all of it. From writing to the Illustration and even the lettering. The care that he took in the book really shows in the quality of the books. To that I say well done Karl, because this book is a fantastic start of what has the potential to be an amazing series, and one that everyone should read. If you love your comics that are full of colors and action, then this is right up your alley.
