Review: Fight Like a Girl #2
Story:Â David Pinckney
Art: Soo Lee
Letters: Adam Wollet
Publisher: Action Lab Entertainment
Release Date: December 24, 2014
This week Action Lab Entertainment rolls out Fight Like a Girl #2 by David Pinckney and Soo Lee. Â The story picks up with Amarosa in debate with a friend about seeking alternative options to the gauntlet of challenges she has previously accepted. Â The story moves quickly into Amarosa’s next test. Â She enters the fantasy realm, meets up with “The Announcer” and begins to search for her challenge. Â It doesn’t take long for her to stumble across her opponent, and action ensues.
If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be “safe”. Â Neither Pinckney’s story or Lee’s art take very many chances. Â The dialogue is simple and direct. Â The art has it’s highs and lows. But the approach this creative team has taken makes this book accessible to readers of all ages. Â Older readers will breeze through the story and not take much from it, but the younger crowd will have fun with this book. Â The overall plot driving the series is interesting, and there is definitely potential here. Â Hopefully Pinckney & Lee can turn it up a notch in future issues.
Final Verdict: Better suited for a younger crowd, Fight Like a Girl #2 is not the best book you will read this week, but also not the worst. Â If you have kids and want something to read with them over the holiday break, this would be a good book to try.
