REVIEW: Ghostbusters Get Real #3
Ghostbusters Get Real #3

Let’s judge this book by its cover… The regular cover is pretty simple, Egon from the movies standing with the real Ghostbusters cartoon Egon. Slimmer eating a cake. The subscription cover is fantastic, it’s the whole team mirrored from cartoon to movie. The third cover is a toy Stay Puft marshmallow man, it’s very cute.
The facts are these… The recap comes to us courtesy of the Ghostbusters logo ghost himself. The powerful God Proteus has sent a hound to hunt down the Ghostbusters of multiply universes. Having to team up with the movie Ghostbusters the real Ghostbusters need to come up with a plan to stop Proteus and get back to their own universe.
Now if you’re sitting comfortably we can begin… The real Ghostbusters are in the movie universe, referring the Ghostbusters of this world as “others” so other Ray suits up to take a look at the real Ghostbusters universe and heads through a portal. Once through he sees the real Janine and Slimer, who they’re all surprised has been given the name Slimer as theirs is just called the green ghost. The other Ray finds out some information about Proteus and quickly gets slimed by Slimer and returns to his universe.
In the near future a new team of Ghostbusters are trying to deal with a three headed hell hound when a woman appears and send him after the Ghostbusters he’s actually looking for. The woman is a fate and warns Proteus that his fate is tied to the real Ghostbusters before cutting a thread and discarding it. Back in the now the real and the others are devising a plan to deal with Proteus when the hound appears and attacks them all. Managing to get to their gear they trap the hound just in time for Proteus to appear in all his godly toga-ness. To be continued.
Clever idea ha ring the real meet the movies. The real Ghostbusters are drawn to perfection, it felt like I was watching the classic cartoon. The movie ghostbusters on the cover looked a lot more like the actors then inside but that takes nothing from the overall feel of this book. It has it funny moments, mostly from Peter as always. 3 issues in and I felt caught up right away thanks to quick and to the point recap.
The Good, the Bad and the Star rating…
The good- the story and art are great, the mixture of the real and movie make it a pleasure. The retro real Ghostbusters being so spot has great nostalgia.
The bad- the hell hound was dealt with a little quick. But that’s nothing too big.
The stars- with a great idea and fantastic art this easily a 4 star book.

- Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
