Story, Art and Cover by Javier Pulido
Letterer – VC’s Cory Petit
Don’t judge a book by its cover, or do, your choice…A simple cover showing the stars of the team-up, its nice, nothing special.
A long, long time ago in the last issue…it’s a stand alone issue so no recap needed.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…New York city, New Years Eve and Star-Lord is engaged in battle with Spider-Man, one of them taking it a lot more seriously than the
other, Star-Lord believes Spider-Man stole his father’s gun from his ship. The fight is really more Star-Lord shooting and Spider-Man dodging, it goes on for a few pages. Star-Lord shows Spider-Man a video showing a very limber Spider-Man steeling the gun and Spider-Man convinces him it wasn’t him. The two head to Longshot, a night club to find out who really stole the gun, inside they split up and Star-Lord finds himself inside with all the loud music and dancing-girls, at the bar he orders a beer before realizing he has no money. lucky for him a very attractive woman pays for it and the two begin to dance, she leaves quickly after smelling something in the air…Spider-Man. Outside she changes in to something a little more feline as she’s revealed to be none other than Black Cat, she stole the gun, the pair tussle before the buyers show up, they gave her a hollow emitter to impersonate Spider-Man. The buyers turn out to be HYDRA, their plan is to sacrifice Spider-Man at midnight to begin a new spider rule or SPYDRA (yes really) lucky for everyone the guns safety is on and when the trigger is pulled the head ”SPYDRA” guy is vaporised. Spider-Man gets home to his aunt May and Black Cat leaves Star-Lord all alone as the clock strikes 12.
A simple story with simple art, its a good little stand alone issue, nothing special. if you like Spider-Man or Star-Lord then its worth picking up. if not then i’d give it a miss.
Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye…Only person to die in this issue is the head of SPYDRA though it’s not violent he’s just disinterested.
The Good, the Bad and the Meh…
The Good- its a stand alone story so easy to read.
The Bad- its a bit boring, it ties up a little too easily and quickly.
The Meh- the art is very simple.
Overall for the contained story and stand alone elements I’ll give a happy 3.5

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
