REVIEW: Holy F*ck #3

Writer: Nick Marino
Artist: Daniel Arruda Massa
Publisher: Action Lab

Let me preface by saying that Holy F*ck #3 (ok, the whole series) is not for the faint of heart or those of you who are easily offended. If you do and you hate it, then sucks for you, I don“t want to hear your rants on the internet about the deplorable depictions of Jesus, Satan and God or the state of the comic book industry today, because in fact, you are wrong. Holy F*ck is a fantastic series and this third issue is among my favorites yet.

Still with me? Good. Zeus and Isis (yes, the mythical gods) continue with their plot to take over the world by making an appearance on the Helen Degenerate Show and to announce the success of their Kickstarter campaign to bring forth the apocalypse. Meanwhile, Jesus and Satan continue kick ass and try to find out from where the nuclear missiles will be launched in order to put a stop to humanity“s end. Oh yeah, and God gets upset with Jesus for being home late and puts out a wanted ad for him to receive a spanking. How about now? Are you still with me?

This is normally the part where I normally rant and rave about the writing and art but with a book like this it“s so hard to do! Nick Marino continues doing a stellar job with this series upping the ante every time by introducing new and hilarious situations. Sure it may be risque to put Jesus into the situations with which he deals, but the result is one of the most fun and hilarious books I“ve read since God Hates Astronauts. Hmmm, I sense a pattern here…Oh yeah, Daniel Massa“s art, it“s incredible. The cartoony style just adds such depth to the story and I loved every minute of it.

With a title like Holy F*ck, there“s really not much you can expect but pure insanity, and issue 3 definitely delivers. If you want a book that doesn“t take itself seriously, but is pure comedic gold from start to finish, then this may be a book for you.
