G“Day Folks!
This is Dodgy86 in the mix, bringing you another comic book review. Today I will tell you about I am Michael Watcher by creator/writer Brian Hawkins and art by Taylor Cottingham.
If you know 80“s horror satire, never have sex in the prologue”¦ The cheap thrills get you killed! That is what happens in the story“s prologue. The deceased are left with a tattooed message on their bodies “I am Michael Watcher”“ left to those who discover the bodies.
Who is Michael Watcher? The young couple Asia and Luqas? The tattooist named Maverick or the Detective Huma Chopra? Then you need to read on.
This read is high on cheap thrills by emphasizing on sex and strong language. This is for mature readers only. I felt the characters lacked any human traits besides the fact the guys are douchebags and the girls are slutty. The art is also hit and miss, in the beginning there is a lot of detail and in the second half it looks rushed. I did find the characters Luqas and Maverick looked too much alike and found it confusing.
I do like the narrative, it does look like a story told by an emotional teenager. I wish there were more to the narrative to enhance the story to make it more humorous and engaging.
The story does end well and I would like to read on; purely only to find out who Michael Watcher is.
