REVIEW: Bloodborne #1 - The Death Of Sleep

Titan press“s “Bloodborne The Death Of Sleep”“ is a dark fantasy story based on from softwarews game “Bloodborne”“. As a die-hard fan of the game series I went into this comic with fairly high expectations. I was looking for something that puts me in the world of “Bloodborne”“ while still having a new fresh story. “Bloodborne The Death Of Sleep”“ really did a fantastic job of bringing me back to the world I loved far better than I had expected. We are introduced to things from the game that we never got to properly see.

The writing by Ales Kot was vague and intriguing as one would expect from a Bloodborne comic. It introduces new characters while giving old characters and ones we had heard of and never seen. It generally seems that the story is going to differ greatly from the game and expand on things we didn’t learn much about from the game.

The art in the game was fantastic. Piotr Kowalski did a fantastic job making the world feel almost exactly like the game, while Brad Simpson gave the world color in a way I had never seen the world of Bloodborne. The world is a bit brighter than the game though it still feels very similar. The grimness are certainly still present in a way that reminds you constantly of the horror of the world.

Overall, “Bloodborne The Death Of Sleep”“ is a fantastic story with a set up that makes me really excited for the remainder of the story. I am very excited to see where the story goes and to see any way that it is pulled back to tie into the game. As a fan of the game I truly enjoyed this comic. I rate “Bloodborne The Death Of Sleep”“ issue one a high 4 out of 5 stars.
