Cover – Leonardo Manco
Letterer- Travis Lanham
Don’t judge a book by its cover, or do, your choice…
Okay so the cover is more stripper then maybe it should be, but that’s what you get with Lobo 2.0. The cover art isn’t as good as what’s inside and for some reason there’s no Sinestro or a single yellow lantern on the cover, that doesn’t make sense, overall not the best.
A long, long time a go in the last issue…
Meet Lobo, the REAL Lobo, slimmer, shorter, tattooed, less biker more male model. If you thought the old, butch cigar smoking Lobo was hardcore, wait til you meet this badass.
So far Lobo has saved the Earth, fought Superman to do it,joined forces with a mix match team of space warriors, killed many, MANY people and left even more hearts broken along the way.
Lobo is the last of his kind, believing himself the reason for this he chose a life as an assassin for hire, though recently he found the woman responsible for the genocide of his race, lets just save that didn’t sit well with Lobo, no sexy time for her.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…
We open on the planet Har’ranth as a yellow ring searches for its new host, before it can claim the finger of General Straix, Lobo
shoots him straight through the head. Lobo is collecting yellow rings in hopes of drawing out his target, a target worth one million creds, Sinestro, leader of the Sinestro Corps. after collecting a half-dozen rings and still no sign of Sinestro, Lobo decides to try a new approach and heads to Urziel Pleasure Oasis, a floating rock spa for the rich and richer. Lobo gets down to sexy time business before getting down to the business at hand, Xantes the owner tells Lobo of a prison with what he’s looking for so off he sets to Reaper Prison, Lobo takes out all the guards and the warden before taking several Korugarians as bait to lure out Sinestro. The plan works somewhat as 5 yellow lanterns show up to save them, killing Lobo in the process.
Taking the prisoners back to New Korugar with the last remaining survivers the lanterns leave believing Lobo to be dead. Once healed Lobo follows where he is met by Sinestro himself, the two engage in a vicious battle with Lobo seemingly getting the upper hand before Sinestro calls off the hit with a password. confused Lobo asks whats going on, Sinestro explains he put the hit on himself to test Lobo and see if he’s worthy of joining in the fight against the rest of the lantern corps. this issues is exactly what a Lobo issue should be, action, sexy times and straight up murder, its none stop in this annual that leads nicely into the next the story arch that looks set to cross over into the green lantern books if not the Sinestro title itself.
No shoes, No shirt, No shame…
Lobo is not shy about showing some blue tattoo’d skin, he can often be found in the arms or bed of one or more alien lovelys. This issues see’s the shameless Lobo partake in a jacuzzi session with 3 lasses before stepping out in the nude. If you got it flaunt it.
It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye…
For Lobo even when someone loses an eye it’s still fun and games, its rare to go more than 3 or 4 pages without Lobo killing someone and the Annual is no different, first page BAM! head shot.
At the prison 5 more are killed and one beheaded , although he is still alive, for now. Lobo himself is pulled apart by Arkillo, lucky for Lobo he heals quick.
Haven’t I seen you somewhere before…
The yellow lanterns are all here including my favourite Arkillo
The Good, The Bad and The Meh…
The Good – Action all the way, the artwork is great, Sinestro is always a star, easy jumping on point for new readers.
The Bad – It’s hard to find anything not to like about this issue, but i have this section for a reason so here goes, the fact that Lobo lasted as long as he did against so many members of the Sinestro corps was a bit much to take, very convenient that his ship also heals like he does.
The Meh – I found it just okay that Sinestro put the hit out on himself, if he wanted to test Lobo why not have just watche ed him when he fought Superman? that said it’s a very small meh.
a very strong 4.5 stars

Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
