Danny is or more accurately was a screenwriter the Lord of Gore movies, a series of slasher/horror films when he is fired along with the main star for younger and cheaper stars. But when his mentor and friend is murdered In front of him by someone dressed as the Headsman, the main character of the franchise Danny is thrust into a real life horror movie.
Given a key to safe deposit box by his friend Noah just before his death Danny fights off the headsman and keeps the key from falling into his hands. Inside the box is supposedly prof that the head of the studio that produces Lord of Gore is a homicidal maniac, is the headsman working Sebastian Toombs or like the movies does he wish to punish him?
As horror books go this is quite good, you’re not going to get a jump scare from a comic like you would a movie and the gore is far less visceral but that’s ok because the story is well written. It’s not he first time we’ve seen a movie character come to life to hunt down people in the real world and I doubt it’ll be the last but at least it’s interesting. The art isn’t bad, it’s a little on the cartoony side but not too much that it doesn’t fit the story. The idea, like I said is not that original but originality is getting harder and harder to come by these days so for what it is it’s well done. I don’t recall reading a Devils Due comic in the past but I have to say it’s a good book to introduce myself to the publisher.
Overall this is a healthy 4 stars, I’ll keep an eye out for the next issue.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
