Review: Moths #3
Story Thus far:
In the previous issue of Moths, the story has evolved around a girl named Emily Kai living in a post Pandemic world. The Pandemic had killed off a huge portion of the population but has left the survivors with complications. Super-heroic complications. Everyone who became infected with the virus and survived now has powers but will die within 6 months once they trigger them.
Emily Kai is a survivor and has decided to trigger her power of Empathy. She doesn’t quite know what to do with them, so she turns to a group called the resistance to help her use them.
Art:
Interesting Customization of styles based on the narrative happening in the panels. Mike Choi utilized a mix of Futurism, but impressionism as well switching back and forth dependent of action. Sal Cipriano in previous has issues has done well, and in this issue as well, but in a couple of the panels the lettering is off and breaks the readers rhythm making it a little unreadable. Other The only thing Art wise is the character designs are still a bit run of the mill and lacking the writer’s voice.
Script:
It feels like the rhythm was rushed. Just a few issues ago I was reading about an interesting world.
Then I was reading about the powers and Emily’s place in the world. Now in this issue she is overturning the will of international governments. I feel like there were a least a few issues before she got to this point
SCORE:
Speculation:
How can you not? Speculate on Moths #1? It’s because the Universe that this exists in starts in Upshot #0. I don’t have a clear vision for which platform this would be perfect for; however, Artists, Writers and Artisans, the publisher, just launched AWA Studios back in June. Headed by Zach Studin the focus of the division will be to build new film and TV content centered around AWA properties
