REVIEW: NVRLND #4
For the 411 on 451’s NVRLND issues 1 & 2 you can check out my reviews.
Spoilers ahead…
As the story draws to a close Hook has Peters shadows and without it Peter is dying, Hook’s plan takes a turn as he decides on crashing Tiger Lillie’s Quinceañera and leaves with something else that doesn’t belong to him.
I’m a bit of a fanboy when it comes to 451 media, they have released some of my favourite titles lately including Humbug and Self Storage and now NVRLND has quickly been added to that list, I’ve gushed over this book in my previous reviews and I’m not too proud to do the same again.
The idea alone is fantastic, to take the loveable, happy and bright characters of J.M Barrie’s Classic Peter Pan and transfer them all so fluidly into a real world staging deserves a round of applause, having the lost boys and the Pirates all together without them seeming forced or silly took an amazing eye for creativity and storytelling.
From issue one I’ve been hooked (pun intended) wanting more and more after reading each issue, wanting to see what the very sexualized James Hook would do next and how the young rocker Peter would best his nemesis. The love story of Peter and Wendy doesn’t take a back seat but rather rides along beside the main story of teen rebellion, drug dealing gangs and what exactly Hook wants with Peters shadow. This four issue story is over too soon and I only hope volume two isn’t far off, until then it’s off to the second star to the right and straight on till morning.

- Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
