John Lees and Alex Cormack wrap up their Oxymoron limited series today with the release of Oxymoron: The Lovliest Nightmare #4. The story picks up a month after the shocking, tragic events of the previous issue. Detective Mary Clark is missing and assumed dead. The city of Swanstown is in complete dissaray and everyone fears for their life. We find Mary is not dead but in hiding, and has tracked all of The Oxymoron’s kills over the last month. With Mary’s whereabouts unknown, The Oxymoron turns his sights on someone in Mary’s life that he thinks he can draw her out with. Mary sees her opportunity, and launches her own plan to take down The Oxymoron once and for all.
Oxymoron: The Lovliest Nightmare #4 delivered a terrific ending to a great overall series. The second half of this book will have your jaw on the floor as you read it. It’s been a long, twisted road for Mary’s relationship with The Oxymoron, and every bit of it is resolved in this final chapter. The entire creative team has knocked this story out of the park so far, and issue #4 is no exception.
FINAL VERDICT: If you’re anything like me and prefer villains over heroes, this series is definitely for you. Oxymoron: The Lovliest Nightmare #4 is the proper send off this comic series deserved. PS…Hang around after the letters column for an after credits scene”.
