Review: Postal: Deliverance #6

In the previous issues of the Postal #5, the story flashbacks to a pregnant Laura who has been offered,the promise of her own Eden, built with her vision in mind.Â We get to see the devil like creature who makes the offer; however, we don’t know what he gets out of it yet. We got more background on Mark and his upbringing by his adapted mother, Laura andÂ and her new adopted son Pascal.Â The background was a setup for a very testy, family reunion among Mark, Maggie, and his mother. But everyone is going to have to set aside their differences because, one of the citizens of Eden was mysteriously murdered.

In the current issue of the Postal #6, The investigation into the Eden, murder continues as Mark and his mother team-up.Â Â Â Â Sheriff Maggie and her partner Magnum, continue the investigation on their own, centered on searching the outer reaches of the town.Â Â The investigation eventually leads to a gruesome discovery.Â Even though Mark would prefer to retire from being Mayor and try to stay home to make taking care of his family, the problems of Eden follow him home.

Â The questions still remains, as to how does Eden work?Â Does Laura really control everything inside of it?Â What powers it, and Laura’s vision?Â Are the dead, some sort of sacrifice to power the town? Who is murdering and mutilating these people?

Postal: Deliverance, is not an easy issue book to just pickup and start reading without context, and issue #6 is no exception. The exposition, tends to bog down the reader who is just looking for answers, or otherwise trying to understand what they are reading.Â Some of itÂ didn’t really add to the narrative,but if you have been reading from the beginning, Postal has been a treat and will kill it once it gets to trade paperback.

Thanks to the panels drawn by Raffaele Ienco, Bryan Hill doesn’t have to worry about the exposition getting too preachy, as the artworkÂ absolutely nails the imagery that he is trying to communicate, and quite frankly uses some techniques that I wish was more wide spread.

Final Verdict:Â Postal #5: Deliverance continues to push the story forward, toward what, I’m not sure, but its mystery stays entertaining.Â Â It should be noted that the time is on the clock for Postal.Â Hulu has plans for a live action television adaptation of Postal from Matt Tolmach and Legendary Entertainment, that has been in development since 2016.
