Let’s judge this book by its cover…. The art is great, can’t fault the style. A very busy scene with all the puppets. Not as sinister as I would have expected.
If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll know I loves me some horror. I remember the Puppet Master movies, I was only young when I saw them so maybe I’m remembering them wrong, but they were scary, these evil little dolls killing everyone in sight, freaked me out for years. This book didn’t feel like that, I’m not saying it wasn’t good, it’s just given the name I wanted scary. Jumping into the story 8 issues in, with no recap page, I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of the story. That said, I think I got the jist.
Mental hospital full of patients being picked off one by one by a reanimated killer. Most of the puppets are protecting a young boy while two of them are taken away by creepy guys to kill people.
As a new title I’m sure I would have really enjoyed it, but being called Puppet master my expectations where too high going in. The art throughout is really good so it gets points for that, the cover promises gore yet the one of the kills is off panel and the other is a simple poisoning. I’m not into gore-porn but it would have been nice to see a little carnage.
For this one sadly I’m giving it 2 stars. Had I read the first 7 issues it might have been higher, but based on this issue alone it’s a 2 star book.

Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
