Review: Revenge of Cosmic Ghost Rider #2

  • The Cosmic Ghost Rider continues his quest to deter and destroy the criminal empire of the Cosmic King, with the help of his sidekick Cammi, the space pirate

In the last issue of Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider #1, met a possible new ally in a space pirate named Cammi. We get introduced to a mysteriously dark figure called the “Cosmic King”, a supposedly as nasty a figure as Thanos, who has the ability to open portals to hell whenever he wants. The Cosmic Ghost Rider was accosted by the Punisher, and made to confront the decisions he made when he had the ability to go back in time.
In the current issue of Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider #2,the Cosmic King travels to see Memphisto the former king of Hell, to discuss the fate of Frank Castles soul. The result has some interesting implications for the vulnerability of the Cosmic Ghost Rider. Frank travels to the spice mines of Kanda in order to exact the spirit of vengeance on the drug cartel. The Trenches of Natal Lax, a haven for slave traders, with creatures that look suspiciously like the creature from the Marina Trench. The relationship between Cammi and the Cosmic Ghost Rider continues to develop”¦ but with an interesting snag.

Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider #2, is full of juxtaposition, and small instances of placing Frank and Cammi close together or side by side, then putting them apart in action sequences especially for comparison or contrast. So far, I am loving the dynamics presented. On one of Frank you have the presumed innocence of Cammi, and then on the other side you have the Cosmic King, a murderous villain and ruler over syndicates in 20 galaxies.

The Art by Scott Hepburn was truly inspired by some nightmare inducing pharmaceuticals. Hepburn did a pretty okay job of capturing the cosmic nature of the Ghost Rider, and put some elbow grease into showing the Frank’s destructive nature, but what will catch your attention is the attention to detail given into developing the Cosmic King. Hopefully that means Cosmic King will continue to stick around and be a larger part of the Marvel Cosmic universe going forward.

Final Verdict: 5 stars out 5.  Good narrative. Awesome dialogue, and devastating art.  Fans of the Cosmic Ghost Rider will love this installation.
