Well it’s a slow start, bit wordy but kinda cool (hey look, a recap…) Cap’ goes to see the wrestling and winds up reconnecting with his sense of purpose. It’s all quite affirming in a corny but uplifting easy, exactly how Cap’ should be when the writer needs to touch base with the character.
The writing gets a bit heavy, not thematically just the word to panel ratio is a bit lopsided, mainly at the beginning though. The pacing is strong and the characters are clear, the new Falcon seems especially cool, though I did think it was Machine Man at first.
The art has a solid feel, which at first I found a bit plasticy but as you get into it you warm to the facial expressions, enjoy the well-studied wrestling moves and wince as D-Man gets wrestled to the canvas.
Bet you thought I was going to say something else didn’t you, well fuck off this is the 21st century.
Good comic.
