REVIEW: Sonic the Hedgehog #17

Back in the 1990s, millions of gamers spent their days spinning a pixelated Hedgehog through a dizzying landscape to collect rings and battle evil bosses.  The memory of Sonic’s Buzzsaw spining attack is burned into the brains of any Sega Genesis player who grew up in the 1990’s.  ;However, ever since the  Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer dropped almost a month ago,fans have been absolutely losing their minds. The production company likely thought they were going to score big an capitalize on nostalgia with the trailer.  but the Sonic dreamed up by the production team doesn“t exactly resemble the cartoonish good looks of the Sonic we all remember. In short, Sonic looks creepy.  But at least we still have the comics to keep the fans appeased that Sega hasn’t totally lost its mind…right?

Well here comes Sonic the Hedgehog #17 to hopefully keep the Hedgehog masses placated at least until November 19th.

Previously in Sonic the Hedgehog #16, Doctor Eggman had lost his memory until Doctor Star Line helped him regain it . Then Doctor Eggman developed a infectious substance that turns living things into robots call zombots, and of course the Zombots are also infectious.

Sonic the Hedgehog tried to stop the Zombots but ended up becoming effected. Luckily he had Tails to help stave off the infection.

Currently in Sonic the Hedgehog #17, Doctor Eggman set his sights on infecting Seaside City which is home to some of Sonic’s friends, Team Chaotix (Origin Knuckles’ Chaotix,1995), But unfortunately Sonic the Hedgehog cannot help his friends or Seaside City because he’s still infected and he has to keep running in order to stop from becoming a total Zombot.  So Sonic the Hedgehog is in quite a conundrum.

All in all Sonic the Hedgehog #17 is a great filler to keep fans ha00y until the movie comes oiut in November.  Speaking of the movie there are a few significant problems that fans of the franchise see that are likely to destroy Sonic“s ability to do well at the box office. But they wont find that here, as Ian Flynn captures the fun and ridiculousness of the game.
