Review: Spawn #300
The tiding for Spawn just keep on coming. Currently production is under way for the R-rated horror movie from,  There is also a Sam and Twitch series reportedly in development for BBC America. Todd McFarlane just last month announced that he is developing a pair of new animated series one for adults and another for kids set in the world of Spawn*. Cyan, just had a revival as a new character. Now we have the 300th issue of Spawn.
In the previous issue of Spawn #299, there were three story lines. Spawn choked a demon for information on who killed his wife. Jessica Priest received a phone call from NYX, regarding the assassinations of Global Executives and resignation of government officials, in the meantime Nicholas Cogliostro shows up to talk to NYX.
In the current issue Spawn #300, Spawn follows up on the information regarding who killed his wife in a toxic dump in Albania. Spawn“s releases his pawns ”” which include Cy-Gor, Overt-Kill, to go on a search and destroy mission against the Rapture, a group of angels that wish to destroy all of humanity. The Redeemer makes an appearance and becomes something new. Jessica Priest arrives at the location of NYX and has her life changed forever. Spawn gets a new suit.
If you aren’t a Spawn reader this may not necessarily be the best book to pick-up and start reading. There’s a lot backstory that may have helped the casual reader had they taken the time to do it . Probably could have stuck that in instead of the 5 opening panels of ‘Lost and Found’ where nothing happens.
If you are a Spawn reader this should get the salivary juices flowing in anticipation of where the title is headed. Big time writers coupled with big time artist can’t hurt. Though I was hoping the Cyan would have showed up here, but most interesting is even though this is a big issue, apparent #301 is supposed to be even bigger and better if that’s even possible. Well I for one can’t wait.
