REVIEW: Spider-Gwen #20

Oh yeah! I“ve been waiting since last month for this one! Spider-Gwen #20 was well worth the wait! Written by Jason Latour and he sure delivered on the action. Artist Robbi Rodriguez drew the scene as if he was there. The city looked great, the movements looked great and the subtle explosive action in each panel was amazing. But what always steals the show in Spider-Gwen for me is the colors. Color artist Rico Renzi outdid himself again. Along with the fast paced action, Renzi has some amazing colors in motion. They just pop right off the page. The colors are amazing in their own right and style. Spider-Gwen is a style of book in it“s own right and to see it in full action is quite the treat. You“ll like this one here readers.

So leaving off from last issue, Gwen is temporary teaming up with Matt Murdock and the Hand to bring in Harry who is infected with the lizard virus that is slowly killing him. They want to “cure”“ him with the Venom symbiote. If that“s not enough to get you hooked, Wolverine or “Mr. Murderhands”“ (Gwen does not like that name, she says it“s stupid.) is hunting Harry also for Shield. With all this action of Gwen battling Wolverine as the Hand lines the surrounding buildings with ninjas, we get a few pages of this universe“s Wolverine origin which is quite awesome. He“s a cursed samurai, that’s all I“m going to say. If you want to know more you got to pick up the book. Then on top of all that we get yet another cameo of another duel clawed hunter that gives Wolverine more to think about as he battles the Hand, Spider-Gwen, and Lizard Harry. It“s too much, but I don“t want it to stop. This is such a great read.

With so much action and brilliant art and colors to supply it to your eyeballs, Spider-Gwen delivers the goods on so many levels. With a fast paced alternate universe storyline, Latour handles this like a car he“s been driving since grade school. The panel work is creative and the motion action sequences are different but so appealing to look at. It“s a feast for your eyes and a highly addicting story for the biggest or smallest Marvel fan. It“s different and refreshing to read about. Spider-Gwen #20 gets five out of five stars!
