REVIEW: The Wild Storm #5
This series is one of the best I have read in a long time. This issue shows Michael Cray the hit man being offered one last job by his boss Mr Craven. This is Cravens way of pulling Mike back into the IO group. Unfortunately, mike is having a crisis of conscience. He has a brain tumour, he is going to die but when? He doesn“t know if it will be in 5 minutes, 5 days, or 5 years. This has him spooked and this is making him rethink all his choices.
Zealot (our awesome female lead) is on a mission, she is at the designated bunker. She finds the remnants of an explosion, splatter bodies and is unable to identify them. Her commend wants answers that she can“t give and her com“s connection is fuzzy at best. Then her com“s gives out and a Daemon appears. Normally this is the time she kicks some ass but the daemon wants to talk. He doesn“t want war but he does want her to stay out-of-the-way and let the situation play out without any interference. It is a request that he leaves with her before he disappears.
We head back to mike who has the file for his last hit. But things are not as they seem. The target is not his usual type. He gets the raw files and sees that the target is not posing a treat but scared. This unnerves mike even more. Have all the hits he has taken part in been lies. Have all the files been doctored to suit IO“s agenda?
The target is a scared female ex IO agent, she has taken her research and melded it with her own body. This is why she is now a target and she must escape whatever why she can. She uses her new abilities to get cash as she does pink lightening descends from the heavens and poof another female appears and asks for her time so that she can explain what the hell is going on.
This comic is very cleverly written, leaving just enough information out to get you wanting more. The illustrations as fantastic making each page pop in different ways. Using various crossovers within the story line makes this adventure more appealing to the masses rather than just one subsection. With adventure, space, daemons and more to keep you entertained this is a must have series. 5 out of 5
