REVIEW: This Damned Band # 2 (of 6)

G’Day Music Lovers,

This is your DJ, Dodgy86 back into the mix bringing you This Damned Band # 2 of 6 a miniseries written by Paul Cornell performed by Tony Parker and Lovern Kindzierski.

It’s 1974 and the band Motherfather is on the road…

Their recent tour of Japan has ended and as the band leave their obscene behaviour and their mess in Tokyo, they are now embarking to Sydney Australia. Whilst on their private plane the band members are discussing ideas of their new album cover and a list of other things that band members do. How will their reception be from the land down under? And what secrets lurk for the band as a result of their dark craft?

Paul Cornell almost writes a fictional biography of what appears like a real life band from the 1970’s, no band went on without issues such as tensions between band members and managers, excessive drug binges and trips during their world tours. The story is told from time to time as a mock interview session like in This is Spinal Tap and The Office; as well as jumping scene to scene to different character conversation dialogues. Visually Parker and Kindzierski do a wonderful job by giving the feel for the 70’s by demonstrating the dress of the era and the surrounding environments, a lot of research would’ve been needed to keep consistency and it is believable. Being an Aussie myself, the appearance of the Sydney Opera House is impressive!

This book is a surprise, in my opinion best serves as a TPB. Do Ya’self a favor and check it out!
