REVIEW: Time Vox #1
G’Day Crusaders,
This is Dodgy86 in the Mix bringing you Time Vox by James Gilarte with art by Rowel Roque. Published by JG Comics.
This is a tale of a young hero named Jaime, his trusted canine sidekick Cookie and Vox the time travelling car as they span off on adventures. In issue Jaime and Cookie are awakened by Vox as there is trouble in Mexico in the year 1340 and the trio are there to prevent an earthquake from happening there.
Vox is like a hybrid of the DeLorean from Back to the Future and Hanna Barbera’s Speed Buggy is that he’s a talking car that time travels. Vox is set out to solve problems in the past and uses the co-pilots to assist him. The premise of this story is quite interesting – the first few pages add to the excitement, in particular when Vox high beams towards Jaime it changes his costume to anything based on the environment and situation. There is some charm in this book, as Cookie and Vox act as caretakers for Jaime (who looks to be around 7 or 8 years old). This is an all pages book and looks to be fun as it looks to have a new adventure every issue. I wished there was some more narration.
The art is warm and well laid out, very simple and well laid out. The splash page in time travel is gorgeous.
Great kids book, like a toned down Calvin and Hobbes. Do ya’self a favor and check it out.
