REVIEW: TRANSFORMERS HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2015
G“Day Crusaders,
This is Dodgy86 back into the mix bringing you Transformers Holiday Special, broken into three stories: Choose Me by Mairghread Scott with art by Corin Howell and Thomas Deer; Silent Night by James Roberts with art by Kotteri and Joanna Lafuente; lastly The Thirteenth Day by John Barber and Josh Burcham.
Choose Me:
Everybody in Cybertron is in the holiday spirit, spending quality time with friends and family. Feeling joyous and sharing with every bot, con and the like… all except one, just like Dicken“s A Christmas Carol Starscream in Ebenezer Scrooge form, in his King Starscream attire moping over his loneliness. Until he“s approached by a ghost and tends to make a video of wishes on behalf of himself and it doesn“t go to plan! Meanwhile.. Rodimus is outraged to find Megatron in his house… no he isn“t intent on infiltrating the Aubobot“s plans, no he“s not there to cause havoc… he and Minimus Ambus are found redecorating the Christmas Tree! Being the pessimist, Rodimus is trying to get into the holiday spirit.
Silent Night:
At Swerves bar, Swerve, Nautica and Whirl are enjoying the repercussions of drink a bit too much.. until they hear some weird noises. You may ask is this the booze talking? The results may be alarming, a zombified Ultra Magnus?!
The Thirteenth Day of Christmas:
P.I Cracker.. that“s Thundercracker to you! Along with his trusted pooch sidekick Buster, as they investigate an attack in a home by a jolly big man in red which leads him to attack the North Pole. Who set us Santa Claus?
This book is a lot of fun to read ”“ by not taking itself too seriously, at times a bit slapstick. The change of story shifts the book from one fun ride to another. The mash-up between Autobots and Decepticons were also fun to read. The art styles throughout were consistent which makes it appealing.
I did enjoy it, if you love Transformers (like me!) Do ya’self a favor and check it out!
