Review: Unearth #1

A while ago I saw a publication about a new comic that was cooking called Unearth, the publication shows the image that will be used as Cover B of the comic and was really something shocking, something that already told us that a good horror comic was coming.

Unearth begins in Mexico where an expedition of scientists and military (because we don’t know what can happen) are investigating a disease that causes strange symptoms to some people of the town, while others more unfortunate cause horrible and shocking mutations, being one of his victims Dr. Hernandez local doctor who was treating the sick, the expedition is led by Dr. Reyes (the brain) and the distrustful and nervous Lieutenant Morris (the muscle), things start to take another level when in another place some boys find a dog with the same strange mutation that affects Dr. Hernandez, it is presumed that the dog went through a tunnel that until 3 days ago did not exist and connects directly with a cave in the village which serves as a refuge for a local terrorist group, so now the group of doctors and military must begin to investigate what is happening, by entering into a very deep well Dr. Reyes realizes that someone was there before, this thanks to strange glyph created by some ancient civilization (maybe alien?) Fear of the unknown and the ghosts of the past that harass Dr. Reyes are some of the ingredients that are part of this shocking and scary comic.

Unearth is a science fiction thriller in the style of old classics where a group of scientists (and military) faces things that are beyond their comprehension and that will surely be a nightmarish mission for their protagonists, there are very good things here, really Image managed to reunite a talented team (Cullen Bunn, Kyle Strahm, and Baldemar Rivas) who in this first issue show that they handle the theme of psychological thriller and science fiction very well, great things are predicted to this title.

Hace un tiempo vi una publicaciÃ³n sobre un nuevo cÃ³mic que se estaba cocinando llamado Unearth, la imagen era la que se usarÃa como Cover B del cÃ³mic y realmente fue algo impactante que ya nos decÃa que un buen comic de terror se venÃa en camino.

Unearth comienza en MÃ©xico dÃ³nde una expediciÃ³n de cientÃficos y militares (ya que no se sabe que pueda pasar) se encuentran investigando una enfermedad que causa extraÃ±os sÃntomas a algunas personas del pueblo, mientras que a otras mas desafortunadas les causa horribles e impactantes mutaciones, siendo una de sus vÃctimas el Dr. HernÃ¡ndez mÃ©dico local que se encontraba tratando a los enfermos, la expediciÃ³n es encabazada por la Dra. Reyes (el cerebro) y el desconfiado y nervioso Teniente Morris (el mÃºsculo), las cosas empiezan a tomar otro nivel cuando en otro lugar un par de chicos encuentran a un perro con la misma extraÃ±a mutaciÃ³n que afecta al Dr. HernÃ¡ndez, se presume que el perro saliÃ³ por un tÃºnel que hasta hace 3 dÃas no existÃa y que se conecta directamente con una cueva en el pueblo la cual sirve de refugio a un grupo terrorista local, asÃ que ahora el grupo de mÃ©dicos y militares deben comenzar a investigar que estÃ¡ ocurriendo, al entrar en una especie de pozo profundo la Dra. Reyes se da cuenta que alguien ya estuvo allÃ antes, esto gracias a unos extraÃ±os jeroglificos creados por alguna antigua civilizaciÃ³n (Â¿alienÃgena?) el miedo a lo desconocido y los fantasmas del pasado que acosan a la Dra. Reyes son algunos de los ingredientes que forman parte de este impactante y terrorifico comic.

Unearth es un thriller de ciencia ficciÃ³n al mejor estilo de viejos clÃ¡sicos dÃ³nde un grupo de cientÃficos (y militares) se enfrentan a cosas que escapan de su comprensiÃ³n y que seguramente serÃ¡ una misiÃ³n de pesadilla para sus protagonistas, hay muy buenas cosas acÃ¡, realmente Image logrÃ³ reunir a un talentoso equipo (Cullen Bunn, Kyle Strahm, y Baldemar Rivas) quienes en este primer nÃºmero demuestran que manejan muy bien el tema del thriller psicolÃ³gico y de ciencia ficciÃ³n, grandes cosas se auguran a este tÃtulo.
