REVIEW
Premise: On a mission to eliminate Armors from the galaxy, a squad of Hunters come across a predicament where communications are severed from control and reinforcements are no where to be found. Looks like Primary and the team are on their own.
Sometimes it’s hard coming into a comic in the middle of the story, and questions start forming:
What is this? Why is this happening? What’s this guy’s deal? I don’t understand this lingo. Although I did ask myself these questions, it didn’t take long to get clued in. This comic presents a simple, solid story full of action and drama, full of colorful atmosphere and cast. Reading X-O Manowar, what you see is what you get. Intergalactic warfare with a twist of unfamiliarity, I have only read this issue, but it’s intriguing how little of “earth” there is within this comic, that is until problems occur with one of the main characters who look human. That was when my interest peaked.
X-O Manowar is a vibrant, western styled comic…its’ off-world atmosphere complemented with colors and lush environment. The artwork is very clean and the action is easy to look at. When I saw the artwork style, my mind immediately said “This must be Valiant!”
The downside for me? It was hard getting caught up with the lingo, and the characters seemed slightly one dimensional…but that’s getting nit-picky. I must admit, I’m looking forward to reading what happens next!
