SHIN ZERO Kickstarter Campaign Launches from Magnetic Press

The final kaiju fell… then so did the sentai dream. SHIN ZERO is a requiem for forgotten heroes… and a love letter to the mythos that raised them!

The final monster was defeated. The suits are fading. And the world moved on.

Magnetic Press and renowned French design studio Label 619 are proud to announce the launch of the official Kickstarter campaign for SHIN ZERO, a stunning graphic novel by award-winning creators Mathieu Bablet (Shangri-La, Carbon & Silicon) and Guillaume Singelin (Frontier, PTSD).

Twenty years after the last kaiju was vanquished, the sentai legacy survives—but only in fluorescent jackets and side hustles. Warren, Nikki, Héloïse, Satoshi, and Sofia were once ready to save the world. Today, they share a cramped flat and the fallout of their fading myth.

But something stirs in the ruins of this privatized paradise. When the line between nostalgia and nightmare begins to blur, these worn-out warriors must ask the question they’ve long tried to ignore: Are legends worth reviving—or better left to die?

With expressive, kinetic visuals from Singelin and sweeping emotional depth from Bablet, Shin Zero is Power Rangers by way of RENT—a melancholic, neon-soaked meditation on meaning, myth, and the monsters we carry.

This debut volume includes 216 pages of lush, layered storytelling printed in classic Magnetic Press style, available in three formats:

  • Softcover Retail Edition: 6.5×9”, uncoated 128gsm woodfree interior stock, with French flaps and spotUV metallic-foil-stamped cardstock cover. A love letter to indie comics, kaiju culture, and those who still believe in heroes.
  • Limited Edition Hardcover: Exclusive to this campaign. Bound in 3mm boards with metallic silver elements and Magnetic Press’s signature curved corners.
  • Deluxe Slipcased Edition: A kaiju-skin-textured and foil-stamped slipcase encasing the premium hardcover, with a foil-stamped bookplate and exclusive metal Sentai Corp lapel pin. Designed for collectors and believers alike.

Backers can also customize pledge tiers to include digital or physical editions of past sci-fi and speculative hits by Bablet and Singelin, including:

  • CARBON & SILICON: A 272-page fable on AI, humanity, and the ravages of capitalism.
  • FRONTIER: Chibi-styled explorers in a world of bleak, sweeping futures.
  • SHANGRI-LA and ADRASTEA: Visionary epics on evolution, immortality, and the meaning of legacy.
  • MIDNIGHT ORDER: “X-Files meets Men in Black with witches” in a globe-spanning occult thriller.

Label 619 has been producing original graphic novels since 2008 with a focus and dedication to pulp and pop culture, from gritty high fantasy and science fiction to contemporary urban drama and horror. The name of the label refers to the area code of San Diego, an iconic place for comics in the US. They have produced over 60 titles, series, and spinoffs since their inception, and their catalog includes vinyl figures, music, and other related merchandise in their portfolio. They are currently managed by Rue de Sevres, one of the leading graphic novel publishing houses in France.

If Watchmen was about Power Rangers—or if The Boys had heart, Shin Zero would be their heir. It’s the burnout dream of Evangelion, the color-punch of MFKZ, and the soul-searching melancholy of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Perfect for fans of tokusatsu, found family sagas, and dystopias with a human heartbeat.
