That’s the terrifying premise behind PICK-UP, a brand-new crime thriller one-shot arriving March 18 from AWA Studios, written by Michael Coast.
Blending modern influencer culture with Hitchcock-style suspense, PICK-UP explores how quickly digital fame can collide with real-world danger.
The story follows a rising online personality whose carefully constructed life begins to unravel after background footage reveals something far darker than intended. What begins as just another moment for social media spirals into a high-stakes confrontation with the dangerous truth cameras can expose.
For Coast, the project marks an exciting creative shift. Known primarily as a Senior Editor at AWA Studios, he has helped shepherd numerous projects from other creators to publication. With PICK-UP, he steps beyond the editorial desk and into the spotlight as a storyteller.
Coast previously contributed to AWA projects including ET-ER and GAYA, but this new one-shot represents his first solo effort for the publisher and it lands at the perfect time.
Today’s world is built on constant recording. Phones document everything. Cameras are everywhere. And with millions of people broadcasting their lives online, the idea that something unexpected or dangerous could slip into frame feels more realistic than ever.
PICK-UP leans directly into that fear.
The result is a modern thriller that feels ripped from today’s headlines while channeling the tension and suspense of classic crime storytelling.
For fans of suspense, psychological tension, and stories that explore the darker side of digital culture, PICK-UP promises a gripping ride. And if nothing else, it might make readers think twice about what their cameras are really capturing.
PICK-UP hits comic shops March 18 from AWA Studios.
