The Eye Collector #1 arrives June 24 from Image Comics with surreal cosmic horror from Jonathan Ball and GMB Chomichuk.

Upcoming Cosmic Horror Series The Eye Collector Brings a Mind-Bending Lovecraftian Thrill Ride This June

Rising-star creative duo Jonathan Ball (Last Breeds, Clockfire) and GMB Chomichuk (Blood Letters, Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal) are pulling readers straight into the void with The Eye Collector, a bold new cosmic horror series crashing onto shelves this June from Image Comics.

This ain’t just another spooky comic, fam. The Eye Collector looks like it’s coming in hot with mind-melting energy, surreal terror, and the kind of eerie, slow-burn weirdness that gets under your skin and rents space in your brain. We’re talking cosmic horror with style, ambition, and a whole lot of “what the hell did I just witness?” power.

“Each issue of The Eye Collector is designed to stand alone as an experience but also feed into a larger, multi-generational story that moves from the Moon to Earth to a weird, surreal future with shades of Metropolis and shadows of David Lynch,” said Ball. “Our goal is to make each issue its own world and stranger than the one before it.”

And that setup? Oh, it’s deliciously unsettling.

In The Eye Collector, an ancient being turns its attention back toward Earth after the humans aboard the Apollo 10 mission make wishes over the Moon. Yeah… wishes. Because nothing ever goes wrong when mysterious cosmic forces hear humanity thinking out loud, right? Now a spectral entity has reawakened its fascination with our world, and the big question becomes: what is this thing, and why does it want anything to do with us? One thing is clear—this story is aiming to hit readers right between the eyes.

Chomichuk added: “The Eye Collector is our irreverent experiment in comics storytelling, and over the course of the series you’ll see us using storytelling techniques that only work in comics. You look at the page, and it looks back at you.”

Now that right there is the kind of quote that lets you know this team didn’t come to play. They came to bend the medium, mess with your expectations, and make the page itself feel alive.

Beyond the creepy visuals and interstellar dread, The Eye Collector digs into some heavy, timely themes—desire, fantasy, perception, and the terrifying ways reality gets twisted by the stories we tell ourselves. It taps into that modern-day unease where politics, media, algorithms, and AI have made truth feel slippery, distorted, and sometimes straight-up unreal.

But where the book really sinks its claws in is on the ground level, in a much more intimate nightmare.

At the center of this twisted tale is the monstrous Eye Collector, who returns to Earth and begins tempting the parents of a child trapped in a neglectful home. Their dreams can come true—but there’s a price. And yeah, it’s as horrifying as it sounds: their son’s eyes.

That’s the kind of hook that stops you cold.

The Eye Collector #1 lands in comic shops on Wednesday, June 24, and it’ll also be available on major digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

If this book delivers on even half of the eerie promise in this setup, horror fans are gonna be eating good—and probably sleeping with one eye open.
