THE GREEN ARCHER Now Live on Kickstarter!
Celebrating 100 years of a great legend!
Green Archer Comics is proud to announce the launch of THE GREEN ARCHER, a 150-page epic comic anthology based on the 1923 novel by Edgar Wallace, whose best-selling adventure once inspired a wildly popular movie serial.
Co-written by Benjamin Liska (The Press Guardian & The Clock: 1942) and Dr. Anjuli Shere (Johnny Dollar), with art by Dan Butcher (Vanguard), Marc Oliver (Necropolis), Matt Plog (Ghoul Scouts), and Lianna Weidle (Bad Wages), The Green Archer spans centuries of myth, folklore, and action. From the Scottish Witch Trials to WWII Nazi conspiracies, from cyber hackers to the undead hordes of 2100, each Green Archer incarnation must rise to defend Garre Castle—and Scotland itself!
In 1487, The Green Archer was hanged in Scotland. But death would not take him. Instead, he rose as protector of Garre Castle and the people of Scotland, waging a 600-year battle against darkness.
This modern revival brings the legend back into the spotlight with six unforgettable tales, including three all-new 30+ page adventures. Plus, this eternal legend deserves unforgettable covers, featuring variant artists Dan Butcher, Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves), Sarah Myer (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Matt Plog, and Annie Wu (Hawkeye). Letters by Dan Butcher and Saida Temofonte (Adventures of Supergirl).
“Revisiting these characters was a thrill—it gave us the chance to not only honor their legacy, but to push the Green Archer’s world and mythology into bold, unexpected places,” said Benjamin Liska.
“At first, writing a Green Archer story inspired by 16th and 17th-century events and injustices felt like a challenge, but the more I dug through sources, the more I felt a responsibility to use the Archer to help readers experience the humanity behind the history,” said Dr. Anjuli Shere. “Working with Lianna was incredible—she instinctively understood the need to anchor the tale in the past while showing that it is about cycles of power, fear, and resistance that continue to exist today.”
Green Archer Comics Publisher, Allan Liska, added, “This is, without question, the most ambitious project we’ve taken on—and it felt only right that our namesake hero receive the treatment he deserves. The Green Archer has captivated generations, and with this campaign, we’re proud to carry that legacy forward for a whole new audience.”
“For almost 100 years, the original Buck Rogers stories have been influencing science fiction, to the point that we take for granted tropes that originated in those stories,” said writer Allan Liska. “Bringing this story to a new generation of fans has been really fun, but so has the excitement of working with so many talented artists to get their interpretations of this iconic character.”
“Adapting Buck Rogers was amazingly fun!” said co-writer Chris Field. “The original Nowlan novels had a great core, which I was able to build a great modern action story around. I would love to do more Buck stories in the future.”
Equal parts myth and pulp, The Green Archer is a time-spanning adventure for fans of Highlander, Hellboy, and The Witcher. It’s both a revival of a nearly forgotten classic and a bold reinvention for a new century.
For the first time, backers can unlock a special tier to watch The Green Archer film adaptation, alongside a brand-new documentary on the character, screened with the creators in a theater!
The Green Archer Kickstarter campaign will run for 21 days, with its print debut at Baltimore Comic Con. Don’t miss your chance to bring this legendary protector back to life!
