Diamond Select Toys Legends in 3D Video Game Mortal Kombat Scorpion 1/2 Scale Bust Review

Today in the Toyverse, I dive back into the world of Legends in 3D courtesy of Diamond Select, and examine the 1/2 Bust of Scorpion based on his Klassic video game look. Previously, I talked about the amazing Sub-Zero piece, and Scorpion also looks tremendous. Let’s go ahead and dive into this iconic Kombat character.

The look of this statue is really something special. When you first hold this piece, you really are looking at a great piece of pop culture artwork in 3D form. The sculpting on this piece is so life like, which is kind of funny considering it is based on a video game character. The eyes on this guy are really captivating, and stare you down as if Scorpion is going to kick your tail. The mask has a nice level of detail to it, and just adds to the overall presence of the piece. The black part of the costume has some great detail to it as well. The sculpted wrinkles around the neck are a very nice touch as well. The yellow karate gi also has some great sculpting to it that is impressive.

The paint on Scorpion is really amazing. This piece features no paint mistakes, and the paints flows on this bust really well from head to base. The yellow’s are rich and vibrant, and the matte blacks are crisp and clean. The color palette of the character comes to life in great way, and Diamond really delivers with it’s Legends in 3D moniker.  The base is a stunning piece in it’s own right. Scorpion sits atop of a orange/yellow translucent flame. Between Scoprion and Sub-Zero, I dig the flame effect just a bit more with Scorpion. Overall this massive piece is done in spectacular form, yet wont break the bank. Most places have this bad boy at under 160, so don’t miss out out him. Only 1000 pieces are available, so don’t let your wallet get dragged down to Hell to get your hands on one.
