4 Highly Anticipated Video Games to Look Forward to in 2022

Which game are you most excited to get your hands on in 2022?

A new year is upon us and that can only mean one thing: a handful of fresh video games are slated to hit the market in the coming months. Players are excited to dive into these new and improved gaming worlds, especially after some were delayed last year with a promise to arrive in 2022. Here are just a few of the many highly anticipated releases that are coming to both physical and virtual shelves shortly.

Elden Ring

The first selection you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for is Elden Ring. This action role-playing game is at the top of many players’ list, mainly because famous writer George R.R. Martin helped to create it. Martin authored the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, or those novels that were later used as the inspiration for Game of Thrones, arguably the most popular television series of this generation. An epic fantasy game featuring dragons, warriors, wide-open rolling fields, and dark imagery galore, Elden Ring is expected to be available in late February for PC, PlayStation 4& 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

A New NFL 2K

Moving away from fantasy to sports titles, fans of football video games will always remember the NFL 2K franchise. This arcade-style series developed by Visual Concepts was first launched in 1999 and its last installment, ESPN NFL 2K5 premiered in 2004. Up until last year, no one had expected it to make a comeback but indeed the beloved series is re-entering the gaming sphere with a long-awaited sequel slated to come out this year. Although Madden has become the reigning king of football video games, NFL 2K may give the best-selling franchise a run for its money. Nowadays, the 2021-2022 season is coming down to the wire, as football enthusiasts analyze top NFL picks each week in preparation for the upcoming playoffs. Therefore, this release couldn’t come at a better time as it will feed fans’ need for continued football action long after February’s Super Bowl championship matchup has ended, and the season comes to a close.

Starfield

Next up is Starfield, another action RPG but one that is entirely centered in space. Taking place 20 years after a large-scale battle, players are tasked with completing different missions in the galaxy, with a group of space explorers on their side. Stating that Starfield is highly anticipated only touches the surface of the hype surrounding this game. This is the first new world from award-winning developers Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years and is expected to be a visually pleasing next-generation spectacle unlike anything before it. Due this November, the game will be available for both Xbox Series X and S, as well as Microsoft Windows. Get pumped up for this exciting release by playing some other famous titles from Bethesda such as Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls: Blades.

Most of these games have been made to function on multiple platforms from PC to PlayStation, Xbox, and more

Gran Turismo 7

Last but certainly not least, racing game enthusiasts can sink their teeth into a brand-new Grand Turismo installment coming early March. Despite its name Grand Turismo 7, this is actually the eighth title in the series and is more refined than ever before. Players can expect to see access to new shiny cars thanks to an enhanced single player campaign as well as the return of GT Sport Mode which enables high-action races to take place across a range of realistic settings. Although the game is available on PlayStation 4,  users that choose to access the game through PlayStation 5, the latest and greatest console on the market which launched in November of last year, will get to enjoy improved graphics, crisper audio, flexible triggers, increased processing power, and more. This is the very first title in the series to feature a multi-console setup so players have more freedom to choose what is the best playing medium for them.

So, there you have it! A selection of high-quality games coming sooner than later. Now only one question remains- which game are you most looking forward to?
