5 Things Spider-Man: No Way Home Teaches Us
After a long wait, the official trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home was released on August 24, 2021. Fans have been enthusiastically waiting for the first look of the highly anticipated sequel, which was produced in as much secrecy as possible. While a few leaks here and there did give the audience some idea about the plot, mostly about the return of characters like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, most of the plot still remains unclear.
The trailer even pointed at some potential aspects of what the audience can expect beyond No Way Home. From what we know, Sony Pictures has big plans for its Marvel Comics characters.
What’s interesting about the official trailer is that it broke the record of the most global views within the first 24 hours and also generated 4.5 million mentions over social media, setting the expectations really high for fans.
Now, without further ado, let’s look at the key things we got to learn from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
- The Green Goblin Is Back
Earlier, Willem Dafoe had declined to answer all questions regarding whether or not he was a part of the movie. However, now that the trailer is out, he probably seems to be back.
During the final few minutes of the trailer, we got to see the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb from the Raimi near the George Washington Bridge, rolling on the highway before exploding. Meaning, Dafoe might once again be back in his iconic villain role—Green Goblin.
Nevertheless, we can’t be sure of this until the movie finally releases in December. Because the pumpkin bomb is our only hope, and there are chances that another familiar face might take the role. So, if you wish to place your money on Dafoe, you will have to consider all the possible chances before wagering at the best sportsbook.
- Sony Might be Building to the Sinister Six
For now, we are sure the Green Goblin will be back in the movie. Similarly, another character we know for sure can be seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home is Electro from the Andrew Garfield-fronted movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Additionally, the chances are that Jamie Foxx will play the character. Similarly, fans will also get to catch Benedict Cumberbatch playing his iconic role as Doctor Strange.
For any comic fan, this can only mean that the Sinister Six is coming together. And for those who don’t know what the Sinister Six stands for, it is a group of Spider-Man villains who work together to do many bad things. And in Spider-Man: No Way Home, we have got three from the team.
Previously Sony had made enough attempts to do a movie revolving around the Sinister Six. However, Sony had to halt the movie’s development due to a leak. Now, Sony is working together with Marvel Studios to present the audience with a reboot movie.
This also points to the fact that the studio has been thinking about the Sinister Six all this time. So, it is safe to say that they will either end up adding the Sinister Six in No Way Home or include a challenging enemy for Holland’s Peter Parker. Either way, the new movie will act as a starting point of some sort for Sony to go forward with its own Sinister Six movie.
- The Title Starts to Make Sense
The trailer also shed enough light on the new movie’s title, “No Way Home.” Clearly enough, Holland’s Peter Parker is transported to a different universe, someplace where he is not Spider-Man. Perhaps Peter took something that didn’t quite belong to him.
In the trailer, he can be seen holding some sort of mystic artifact, like the ones that litter Doctor Strange’s Sanctum. This is something we have already seen happen. In the past, the Ancient One did this to Strange and Hulk, resulting in the Sorcerer Supreme pushing Peter’s astral form out of his body.
Borrowing Stange’s words means you are trying to live two different lives, and the longer you do it, the more dangerous it becomes. Perhaps, Peter thought the artifact could help him in that regard.
So, we have the movie’s central focus—Parker and Strange trying to figure their way back to their own universe.
