Geeks on tourâ€¦ What it (might) look like if Darth Vader, The Joker, & other pop-culture heroes went on a road trip

It“s a question all of us have ”“ well, probably never, admittedly ”“ asked, but what if a plot contrivance forced our most beloved characters on the road? What might their ride look like?

Well, one concept artist has already done the imaginative thinking for us. Behold, Darth Vader“s Imperial “cruiser”“!

The artist works for a motorcaravan company. So it“s perhaps no surprise they anticipated long journeys for our characters, and went down the caravan-style route. The “look”“ works with us, as Vader“s motorcaravan is pretty much a repurposed Imperial Shuttle: such as the fin (point #2), the cockpit (#3), intake ports (#4), and boarding ramps (#5). The only thing that is really different is the observation deck (#1).

If there ever was another Star Wars movie that featured Darth Vader, and was a bit of a crossover with Mad Max, I“d bet Vader“s method of transport wouldn“t be too far off the mark.Â

The interior looks pretty on the mark, too. Apparent from some tongue-in-cheek humour (Han Solo frozen in carbonite for the fridge #1, a BBQ pit made of the same lava from Mustafar #2), a rare moment of sentimentalism (PadmÃ©“s photograph #3), the rest of it looks just like what one would expect from the interior.

There“s the meditation chamber (#5), a 3-D chess board (#6) and meeting table (#7), and of course a cloak rack because the Sith Lord has to get changed from time to time, too (#4).

Daenerys from Game of thrones

Again, this looks pretty legit for the ride of the “mother of dragons”“. If only there were more (any) tarmac roads and less sand in Essos, and if automobiles had been invented yet, we can totally see Daenerys driving right up to the coast of the Narrow Sea in something like this.

I have no idea what the interior of Daenerys“ motorcaravan would look like, but it would probably be a bit more Essos than Westeros. After all, she“s spent most of her life there. It would be bound to have a cultural impact on the design choices. There“s fruit indigenous to Essos (#2), a seating area that looks like the inside of a Dothraki tent (#3), as well as innumerable self-indulgent references to her self-appointed title as the dragon queen (#4, #5, #6).

Harry Potter“s ride

Assuming for a moment Harry decides to use a physical vehicle to get about and not some magic spell (or other, wizarding method of transport, such as the Floo network). What would he drive around in? Probably something conspicuous ”“ that“s what invisibility cloaks are for. This is basically just a repurposed Hogwarts Express train car.

”¦while the inside would resemble something like the communal chambers of his beloved Gryffindor house. This totally looks like something we can imagine Harry Potter living in. There“s the prefects“ bath from the film series (#1), his four posted bed (#2), trunk (#3), a cage for Hedwig (#4), fireside seats (and a Floo network if he ever gets stuck in traffic), his collection of trophies (#6) and a stash of potions (#7).

The Joker“s ”˜crazy“ house of fun

The Joker, the dangerous psychopath who loves attention, would almost certainly try to make his motorcarvan as alluring as possible. The cab even mirrors his typical “rictus grin”“ (#4), and the entire faÃ§ade of the vehicle, with its House of Fun logo (#2) and laughs (#3) is almost certainly there to entice any would-be victims.Â

And either the flailing clown head (#1) is an aerial antenna or something more dubious.Â

On the inside there“s the Ace Chemical shower (#1) ”“ because The Joker“s descent began when he was bathed in chemicals ”“ get it? Then there“s his bed with a picture of Harley Quinn (#2); fun-house mirrors ”“ because why not? (#3) And a whole host of other self-depreciating; madness-inducing, identity-reaffirming decorations to boot. Including a bat-bear skinned rug (#4), a vanity mirror (#5), a creepy-clown fridge (#6), and a dinner table at the centre of madness (#7).Â

Sheldon Cooper“s “rocket ship”“

Sheldon Cooper ”“ our generation“s Einstein ”“ is the only one that we can confidently say would probably design and build his method of transportation from the ground up. Even if this thing doesn“t look capable of flight, knowing Sheldon, it“s probably capable of something on the level of Transformers.

The USS Bazinga is a tribute to Sheldon“s favourite superhero ”“ The Flash ”“ hence the colours (#2). It has not so much a dashboard as a navigation module (#1), presumably more advanced than most Teslas. And impractical but cool looking boarding stairs to give it a real spaceship feel (#3).

Sheldon is a very rigid and organized person, set about in his ways. So it makes sense that he would essentially “take his apartment with him”“ and set about making the interior just that.Â

There“s his bed with, of course, his The Flash bed sheets (#1), his clothes rack and computer command console (#2, #3), a vac-sealed Spock costume (#4), and everything else about Sheldon that makes him so iconic on The Big Bang Theory. Including his “Fun With Flags”“ props (#5), comics and collectibles (#6), and his home cinema with, of course his “spot”“ on the couch (#7, #8).
