Kratos Continues His Journey in the Realms of the Norse Gods

The God of War gaming series will soon get a new addition as GoW Ragnarök is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The adventures of Kratos and Atreus will once again offer gamers an unforgettable experience. On their quest, the Ghost of Sparta and his teenage son will come face to face with powerful Norse deities, mythical creatures and beasts of all shapes and sizes. The two heroes will also get to meet characters from the first game after the reboot, such as Brok and Sindri, Freya and of course Mimir. Ragnarök is the second and final chapter in the Norse adventures of God of War.

A Reboot that Does not Forget Where the Legend Begun

Santa Monica Studio has made sure to include a lot of Greek deity references in the upcoming game, even though GoW Ragnarök focuses mostly on the adventures of Kratos in the Nordic realms. The studio did not want the reboot to be too far from its roots, so players will regularly see Greek Gods appearing in the memories of Kratos. If these memories are not enough for you, then you can play the online slot Age of the Gods: God of Storms, where Greek mythology is the number one element of the game. If, on the other hand, you are ok with a couple of references and you want to get more Norse “head-to-head” battles, there you will probably get a lot out of God of War Ragnarök.

A Three Minute Trailer Reveals Where the Story is Heading

If you have played the first God of War reboot, then you will more or less know what to expect from Ragnarök. The second game of the Norse saga picks up where the 2018 reboot ended.

By watching the impressive three-minute GoW Ragnarök trailer, players will see that Atreus is slightly older than he was in the first game but still too young to embark on a solo journey. His father is with him every step of the way. Just like every teenager in the real world, Atreus seeks answers to the point that not knowing what is happening feels like the most frustrating thing one can experience. Apart from the relationship between father and son, players will also get to see how the game has been adapted to ninth-generation gaming technology. The graphics and the animations are much better than they were in the 2018 title. This is great news for PS5 users, but PS4 users are worried that their device will not be able to keep up with such a demanding game.

There Is Something Wrong with Thor

God of War Ragnarök got a lot of negativity on Twitter once character images were released. The reason behind the negativity is the overweight version of Thor, which went viral upon being posted on Twitter in the beginning of September. Modern audiences have gotten used to Marvel’s fit version of Thor, but Santa Monica Studio decided to go with a look that is closer to what Norse mythology books document about the way Viking gods looked like, ergo large, strong men. GoW’s Thor might look overweight, but the designers have done wonders with the development of the character, and when the players controlling Kratos get to meet face-to-face with the God of Thunder, then it is certain that they will be impressed.
