8-BIT VERSION of IN FLAMES’ album I, THE MASK
Legendary Swedish visionaries IN FLAMES released their thirteenth studio album, titled I, The Mask via Better Noise Music in North America on March 1, 2019.  The standard version is available HERE on digital and on deluxe CD.  A year later, on Friday, March 6, 2020, the band will release an 8-Bit version of the album in conjunction with the anniversary and announce of a limited edition Jesterhead figurine, available March 20th. The long awaited figurine features the band“s longtime mascot and highlight of the album“s artwork, the Jesterhead. Pre-order your Jesterhead with a limited edition anniversary tee HERE. The band also recently announced a North American tour with MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD, which will take them through the US and Canada from June to November via two legs.
The original 12-track album features a range of the band“s signature sound starting with the first track, “Voices”“ setting the tone with prominent guitar riffs and loud vocals that reflect their heavy roots on singles, “I, The Mask,”“ and “I Am Above”“. Amassing over 21 Million streams in its first year, I The Mask turned heads charting #1 in Sweden and Austria, and #2 in Germany while simultaneously topping both iTunes Metal & Rock charts around the World.
As one of the few remaining bands responsible for constructing the genre that is melodic death metal, it is no secret that In Flames“ instrumentals are beautifully crafted pieces that are equally as heavy as they are catchy. The format of Chiptune, otherwise known as 8-bit music, goes above and beyond in highlighting these memorable licks, making them the centerpiece of the arrangement. After releasing a short clip of ”˜The End“, a single off their 12th studio album ”˜Battles“, in Chiptune format via the band“s social media, fan reaction made it clear that there was a demand for In Flames“ 8-bit compositions.
The original record reunited them with multi GRAMMY nominated producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Motörhead) who also produced 2016’s Battles. Additionally, the album is mixed by GRAMMY award winning mixer, Chris Lord-Alge (Cheap Trick, Linkin Park) and mastered by GRAMMY award mastering engineer, Ted Jensen (Pantera, Eagles, Guns N“ Roses).
