Review: Gen Mobile
Before we get stared on the review of Gen Mobile let’s learn a bit of what they do. Gen Mobile was founded by a couple entrepreneurs in the wireless industry in 2018 (listen to our podcast with co-founder and CEO, Robert Yap, here). Robert along with his team have over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications field and have taken what they“ve learned at other companies they gained experience from, bringing it to life in Gen Mobile.
Gen Mobile operates on the Sprint® 4G LTE network and does not throttle usage and they also allow their customers to tether their data, free of charge. It’s your data, use it the way you see fit! As consumers you can bring your own phone or choose from the over 20+ phones available for sale on their website. The plans range from $5 to $25/mo and customers can pay every month or every three months, with discounts between 5% to 20% off. There is a Gen Mobile Care app that allows customers the ability to track their usage, make payments, change plans, and add data, minutes or int“l credit at anytime. I strongly encourage companies to look at this for their mobile telecommunication needs and save some money. Of the many attractive features of Gen Mobile is their international calling and texting. All plans include free, unlimited texting in the U.S. and to other countries. They also offer free unlimited calling to over 101 countries on their $15/mo plans and up.
Now that you have that info, my experience with the service was great! They sent us a Samsung A6 phone to navigate their service. First person I called to test the service quality was our EIC, Johnny “The Machine” Hughes across the pond. The call quality was amazingly clear, no hiccups on any scale. Same goes for calls made to the west coast, crystal clear. My personal phone’s provider service is horrible and I can confirm Gen Mobile’s signal is fantastic and kills them on quality and reliability! The data provided on the $25 plan was suffice for me as most of the time I’m on home wi-fi or store wi-fi’s (i.e. Starbucks, Dunkin, etc..)
As you can see, their network is all over the map for dependable service.
