Imagine House/Vere, the record label behind Gospel legend Russ Taff’s upcoming album “Cover Story,” today announced the album’s first single. “Tear This Building Down” will be released on Friday, August 30th and is available for pre-save and eventual purchase HERE.
Hailed by Billboard magazine as “the single most electrifying voice in Christian music,” Russ Taff has garnered six GRAMMY® Awards, 16 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and has been inducted into the GMA Hall of Fame an unprecedented three times— as a soloist, and as a member of The Imperials and the Gaither Vocal Band. Taff’s iconic career has now spanned over four decades.
“Tear This Building Down” — also known as “If I Had My Way” or “Samson and Delilah” — has been recorded by such musical luminaries such as Bob Dylan, Ike and Tina Turner, the Grateful Dead, and even The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. While this song has moved millions of listeners for over a hundred years, the original author has actually been lost to time. Russ lends his singular voice to again bring this biblical tale of sin and redemption to his Gospel audience and the world.
The song is a personal one for the artist as the themes within parallel his own struggle with alcohol and his eventual victory over addiction. Fans can learn more about Russ’s inspirational journey to sobriety in his recent interview on the Soft White Underbelly YouTube Channel with over 5.5 million subscribers.
The song is available to pull down for radio at PlayMPE.
