“Style Masters: The Birth of the Graffiti Movement” Opens July 18 at Coral Springs Museum of Art
The Museum of Graffiti proudly announces the opening of “Style Masters: The Birth of the Graffiti Movement,” a sweeping exhibition exploring the origins and evolution of the American graffiti movement. Curated by Museum of Graffiti co-founder Alan Ket, the exhibition will be on view at the Coral Springs Museum of Art from Friday, July 18 through Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The opening reception will take place on Friday, July 18 from 6 PM to 9 PM, with an exclusive Members-Only Preview from 5 PM to 6 PM. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to RSVP at coralspringsmuseum.org/
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
“Style Masters” is a comprehensive survey of the birth of graffiti as a contemporary art form—beginning as a teenage pastime in 1970s New York and evolving into the most powerful global art movement in history. The exhibition traces the story of Style Writing, the rebellious and highly stylized practice of writing one’s name on public surfaces in personalized fonts, which became a vital outlet for youth with limited access to formal art training.
The show includes over 150 rare and historical works, including:
- Style Originators: Works by the graffiti writers who defined the genre’s aesthetic.
- Aerosol Innovation: Tools, spray techniques, and materials used by early pioneers.
- Cultural Context: Archival photos and storytelling that explore graffiti’s role in hip-hop, youth rebellion, and social identity.
- Merchandise Pop-Up: Branded apparel, prints, and accessories available exclusively during the run of the show.
“This exhibition is a tribute to the young artists who dared to take creativity into their own hands,” says curator Alan Ket. “They made art outside the lines—on trains, in alleyways, and across city walls—and ultimately changed the visual landscape of cities around the world.”
Exhibition Dates: July 18 – October 4, 2025
