Variants of the Week 02/26/2020
This was a good week for premier issues as some of the smaller print runs have already sold out. This week the indies are going to give the big guys a run for the money when it comes to long term speculation. In the meantime the rest were represent by some underrated artists such as Lee Bermejo, and Riccardi Feredeci

One of the biggest comic stories of the last summer was the debut of a fifth ninja turtle, Jennika. Collectors and investors flocked for her key issues Although not a major player in 2015, Jennika made her first appearance in TMNT #51 some four years ago. Little did fans know that she would be elevated to the role of ninja turtle, but the question remains was all the fuss worth it? IDW has definitely shown some love to the faithful, by publishing Jennika in her own comic.

Yeah I know this isn’t a variant, but its a hell of good story thus far. While grabbing all of the good elements of the Pulse, PontyPool, and the Ring, Tomorrow #1, is not just another sci-fi story, but paired with the right background music, it is an experience, and that“s why I am making this one my suggested reads of the week (See variants of the week).

Monstrous Baba Yaga One Shot

A fun little story, with straight up witch on witch violence. Full of callbacks to some of the more commercially known witches was definitely appreciated. There is a really great easter egg panel, thats sort of a roster call for a who’s who in the witching world, and some who may not have been so apparent. The title indicates that this is only a one shot but Greg Wright has let me know that is not the case. There were indications toward the end of the book that Source Point may allow for some stories later on down the line. With one movie already under their belt for Source Point (Rottentail), Baba Yaga would be a logical next step.
