Variants of the Week 1/29/2020
Publishers turned in some surprisingly strong comics for the 5th Wednesday. I didn’t get to all the Indies but the 4 I listed were pretty good. I felt like some the artist were definitely trying to start the year out right, because there were some really good covers. Story wise there were some 1st appearances but nothing ground breaking that I came across yet.
Ravencroft #1 Cover C Incentive Ryan Brown Variant (1:35)
Introduction of the ‘Unwanted’ and their leader. Also the introduction of the Heads of Staff for Ravencroft. Its unclear if this truly a new character but it was enough to move speculators. Tough to say what the numbers on this will be, but the open interest was high making this difficult to find Wednesday morning.
Tarot #2 Cover C Incentive Inhyuk Lee Variant (1:50)
This one may be under the radar for some but the first appearance of an elder God called Ish’Izog. This should definitely be on the radar for Inhyuk Lee fans.
Thor Vol 6 #2Cover C Incentive Inhyuk Lee Variant (1:25)
Weapon Plus World War IV Cover B Variant Skan Cover
Immortal Hulk #30 Cover B Variant Mike Del Mundo Marvels XÂ
Captain Marvel The End One Shot Cover A Regular Rahzzah
Fallen Angels Vol 2 #6 Cover B Variant Junggeun Yoon Dark Phoenix Saga 40th Anniversary
Just a gorgeous covers worthy of getting rated and hung on the wall, unfortunately there will be a lot of copies out there.
New Mutants Vol 4 #6 Cover B Variant Adi Granov Dark Phoenix Saga 40th Anniversary
Gravnov showing that he still as some salt left in the shaker. Great piece.
Green Lantern Blackstars #3 Cover A Regular Liam Sharp
Beautiful and somewhat Psychedelic, this is a great option for cover junkies who are looking for something new.
Quantum & Woody Vol 5 #1 Cover E Variant Erica Henderson Pre-Order Edition
Valiant dropped a bunch of new villains in this one.
Airboy #51 Cover B Regular Jim Steranko Cover
Ist entry of the year for “It’s Alive Comics”.
Paradox One Shot
Written and Drawn by Phillip Sevy. If you liked the movie Primer this one will blow your mind. Don’t be shocked if this gets optioned one day.
KISS Zombies #3 Cover B Variant Stuart Sayger Cover
Stuart Sayger is a madman. He has to be because while some of these other artist seem to eventually get in a rut and just draw the same thing with different characters Sayger is over there messing with peoples minds.
