WRESTLING REVIEW: NXT Stand And Deliver III
Things got off shamefully for the women’s division during NXT’s presentation for Wrestlemania Weekend. Why the women’s tag match was relegated to the kickoff show is absolutely beyond me. With Gonzalez and Kai reuniting and the stable of Toxic Attraction losing a portion of their coveted gold, there was a bunch of integral pieces of story left on the cutting room floor for people tired of seeing the hype packages they will eventually be subject to during the airing of what was the upcoming event.
Not to takeaway for the vignette of the package for the Fatal Four Way, the hype had me cheering on Io when she arrived and throwing up the “hang loose” when Cora Jade skated in with the Devotion skate company. Mandy Rose receieved boo’s from my section while Kay Lee Ray, I admittedly was completely nonplussed by – until she ended up doing suicide dives in between and over the ropes. Cora Jade stayed light on her feet throughout the match and Io performed some 619’s to spine’s and some top of the line moonsaults that could only have been thought up and executed by the Genius of the Sky. A flip from Kay Lee Ray onto the apron was ultimately the spot of the women’s division for the night, while Mandy Rose proved herself to be a resilient force who capatialized off one of Shirai’s moonsaults to roll up a distracted Shirai to attain the underhanded victory.
Far from a classic (at the borderline of forgettable) the 2022 edition of “Stand And Deliever” was entertaining, but clearly the focus of WWE Creative for this Wrestlemania pre-cusor was put on the men’s divsion for the entirety of the card, while the women were left to warm things up as best as they could on the back burner.
