FARSCAPE 25th Anniversary Kickstarter Campaign Reveals New Covers, Record Breaking Launch
Fans have embraced the FARSCAPE 25th Anniversary Comic Book Celebration BOOM! Direct Reserve campaign on Kickstarter, presented by BOOM! Studios in partnership with The Jim Henson Company and running now through March 21.
The campaign has already received $470,000 in reserve orders since launching just over a week ago, becoming the #1 comic campaign of February 2024 in just three days, as measured by BackerTracker.
Alongside several exciting updates including exclusive interviews with series creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, BOOM! Studios is also proud to reveal two new covers in a series of connecting character spotlights by acclaimed artist Justine Florentino featuring Ka D’Argo and Chiana.
Limited quantities of the “D’Argo & Chiana” and “Rygel & Zhaan” covers are currently still available as part of exclusive BOOM! Direct Reserve edition metal boxed sets. As a stretch goal unlock this week, BOOM! Studios also announced that Gigi Edgely, the actress who portrayed Chiana in the original series, will be signing a limited run of posters featuring Florentino’s portrait of Chiana. Once unlocked, any customer with a reserved order equal to or greater than $75 will automatically receive a signed poster for free.
The FARSCAPE 25th Anniversary campaign celebrates the legacy of the iconic sci-fi universe, which first debuted as a groundbreaking television series in 1999. Previously written by show creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, BOOM! Studios’ Farscape comic books were an official extension of the storytelling of that original series, and now fans can bring home the entire comic book saga with a complete two volume set collecting the entirety of the BOOM! Studios’ Farscape library, along with commemorative collectibles.
Additionally, earlier this week BOOM! Studios revealed the campaign exclusive cover for the upcoming Farscape 25th Anniversary Special #1 by artist Nimit Malavia (Fables, Firefly, The Dark Tower), presenting brand new adventures set in the universe of Farscape by iconic creators such as Sam Humphries, Ramón K. Pérez, Sarah Gailey, and Zac Thompson as well as longtime Farscape writer Keith R.A. DeCandido, the first new Farscape stories published in over a decade! The BOOM! Direct Reserve campaign also features an exclusive companion cover by Malavia on the Farscape Archive Edition #1, which was also revealed earlier this week.
The campaign will run an additional 15 days, with two of the four limited edition tiers already selling out in the first 24 hours after launch. Fans can continue to reserve their copies of the limited edition volumes through Thursday, March 21 at 11:00 AM PDT.
