FREESTYLE DIGITAL MEDIA ACQUIRES ACTION-THRILLER “THE PILOT” FOR SEPTEMBER RELEASE

French Language Action-Thriller Sets Digital Debut for North American VOD Platforms and DVD on September 12, 2023

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired North American VOD rights to the French-language action-thriller feature film THE PILOT. THE PILOT will be available to rent/own on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms in North America, as well on DVD, starting on September 12, 2023, through Freestyle Digital Media.

THE PILOT tells the story of Daniel — a drone pilot in Mali who conducts a military operation for which he is tracking down the head of a jihadist network with his team. Daniel finds himself in the middle of a terrible dilemma when he needs to make a choice between his duty, the protection of his men in the field, and his family, taken as hostages by terrorists and might get executed if he refuses to cooperate.

Written and directed by Paul Doucet, THE PILOT was produced by Eric Gendarme and Thomas Lubeau of FullTime Studio. Thais Herbreteau served as assistant producer, and Estelle Lemps served as line producer. The featured cast includes Hugo Becker (‘Daniel’), Eye Haidara (‘Carine’), Grégory Fitoussi (‘Fernandez’), and Kahina Carina (‘Anya’).

“With THE PILOT I wanted to talk about the famous soldier’s dilemma: having to choose between duty and family. I did it in the context of a thriller because it’s more fun and allows building a narrative structure based on twists,” said filmmaker Paul Doucet. “I think everyone can find themselves in this dilemma as soon as they become a parent, by finding the right balance between the passions you want to pursue and the time you need for your children and partner to enjoy some quality family time. As a father it is a challenge that I am facing every day.”

Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire THE PILOT directly with Chantal Chauzy of All Rights Entertainment.
