By the Power of Grayskull… it’s finally happening.
After what felt like waiting through a whole Age of Snake Mountain, Mattel and Limited Run Games just dropped the kind of news that makes every 80s kid levitate off the couch. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe™: Dragon Pearl of Destruction launches digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 28, 2026 perfectly timed for the official Masters of the Universe Day. Yeah… that’s not a coincidence. That’s destiny.
This all-new 2D arcade brawler is being forged by the pixel wizards at Bitmap Bureau, and they understood the assignment. This isn’t some lazy nostalgia cash-in. This is a full-blown retro revival that feels like the original cartoon jumped out of your VHS tape and demanded you grab a controller. Here’s the setup Skeletor finds the ancient Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a relic so powerful it makes Snake Mountain look like a starter dungeon. He teams up with Evil-Lyn to drown Eternia in eternal darkness. Classic villain move. Only this time? It’s bigger. Meaner. More chaotic. And standing in the way? He-Man. Man-At-Arms. Teela. And eventually She-Ra. Because when Eternia calls, the heroes answer.
This game is dripping in pixel-art glory. Massive sprites. Rich, colorful environments. It looks exactly like the 80s cartoon but sharper, louder, and ready to throw hands. Every frame screams love letter to the original animated series. You can go solo or tag in a friend for two-player local co-op, just like the golden age of side-scrolling arcade brawlers. Couch co-op isn’t dead it’s flexing.
The roster? Legendary:
He-Man brings the raw, bone-rattling power.
Man-At-Arms handles business with tactical precision.
Teela flips, spins, and staff-strikes with agility.
And She-Ra becomes unlockable in future playthroughs because heroes level up.
And yes. You ride Battle Cat.
Because what’s a Masters of the Universe game without charging into battle on a giant armored tiger tearing through Skeletor’s goons with claws and fury? You’ll smash through 12 action-packed stages across Eternia from the Royal Palace to the Vine Jungle, all the way into the shadow-drenched corridors of Snake Mountain. Every level feels like it was ripped straight from Saturday morning magic. And the villains? Oh, they’re DEEP cut.
Skeletor.
Evil-Lyn.
Beast Man.
Trap Jaw.Plus dark sorceress Shokoti and the Shadow Beasts stepping out of the shadows to make life miserable.
This is that pure arcade energy. Screen-clearing powers. Flashy combos. Big boss fights. That feeling when you and your player two lock in and absolutely demolish a stage like it owes you money.
April 28, 2026.
MOTU Day.
Digital launch across all major platforms.
You have the power. And this time, you’ve got a controller to prove it.
