Mondrian Custom Tournaments come to The Esports Cave
Lantana Games, Art Chops, and Virtual Reload are hosting the next Mondrian Custom Tournament at The Esports Cave in Leander, TX, North of Austin. The tournament will be preceded by a comprehensive Summer Camp (signups open on Eventbrite), where campers will have the chance to learn Mondrian – Plastic Reality’s creation tools. The tournament will stream on the Esports Cave’s Twitch Channel on August 12.
“This tournament is just the next step toward bringing Mondrian into the world of esports,” says Danny Silvers, CEO of Lantana Games. “We built Mondrian Maker to be an easy-to-learn tool for aspiring artists and level designers, so bringing it to the Esports Cave, where students will learn all about videogame play and development skills, is a perfect fit. We’re all excited to see what kinds of levels these young creatives can build, and for them to then compete against each other in their own creations is unheard-of. You won’t want to miss this!”
Mondrian – Plastic Reality is hot off its win at the NordicGame Discovery Contest qualifier round in March, and the first custom tournament hosted by Virtual Reload in June. Now with an eye on its unique possibilities in the world of Esports, Lantana Games is excited to explore blending player creativity with competition. Using Mondrian Maker and Mondrian Studio, campers will build their own levels, and they will then produce, host, and compete in a Custom Tournament using Mondrian – Plastic Reality’s Time Trial mode for a chance at fun prizes using the levels they’ve built. All campers will get hands-on training from the Lantana Games, Art Chops, and Virtual Reload teams.
Greater Austin Area residents interested in being a part of the camp can sign up on Eventbrite. Be sure to tune into The Esports Cave’s Twitch Channel on August 12 to catch the tournament!
About Mondrian – Plastic Reality
In Mondrian – Plastic Reality, you join Piet Mondrian and his modernist friends on time-tripping heists through art history to uncover their lost works in a colorful, brickbreaking, mind-bending experience with roguelite-esque and creative-centric sensibilities. Included with the game are toolsets that offer artists a new way to share their works with the world. These include Mondrian Maker, an easy-to-learn level editor, and Mondrian Studio, a graphic design suite tailormade for today’s connected creatives. Players can import their own artworks as background images for their Mondrian Maker/Studio creations, and upload those creations to Steam Workshop with the press of a button.
