Video Game Review: Ultimate Chicken Horse
Ultimate Chicken Horse Is a fun 2D “build your own”“ platformer developed by Clever Endeavor Games. The game is very much a party game or a game to play with a group of friends. The first time I jumped into Ultimate Chicken Horse I was on my own and I made a few levels for a friend and I to play the next day. When we jumped in to play I realised how incredibly difficult I had made these simple levels. It took my friend over half an hour to complete the first level I had made.
I really enjoyed watching and playing in a stage I had created. It made the goal of winning that much more accomplishable. Having made the levels infuriating my friend, she also had a way to express her displeasure in the difficulty of the level directing it to the levels creator.
The game itself is very adorable. Where most 2D platformers are simply that, Ultimate Chicken Horse makes it a point to make the game inherently cute. I mean the game has a dance but, you can’t get much more adorable than being able to make cute creatures dance and hum at the push of a button. The games design and simple art style made their a focus on gameplay more than anything else. The simple run and jump mechanic made it easy to learn and pick up to play with friends. It is a fun platform for people to create and play other people’s creations.
The only complaint I have is that there didn’t feel to be many different obstacles to add that kill you. It’s a small complaint but I thought I“d mention it. Over all the game is what you make it. You can create to your heart’s content and make plenty for the world to play. Over all I give Ultimate Chicken Horse 3.8/5 stars. It“s really fun to play but only when with you have people to play with.
