Irish Comic Collective Limit Break Comics Celebrates Five Years

Irish Comic Collective, Limit Break Comics, celebrates five years together at the Dublin Comic Arts Festival on July 8, 2023. To mark the occasion, the group have launched their new website at LIMITBREAKCOMICS.COM.

The new website seeks to celebrate the group’s history and involvement in the Irish and International comic communities, as well as host the collective’s newsletter, ‘The LB Bulletin’. To date, Limit Break Comics has published the work of over 130 comic creators and have published – and been included in – over a dozen books, including Turning Roads, Down Below, Meouch and Lens.

Outside of their work in comics, members of the collective participate in the running of IrishComics.ie, have bylines in the Eisner-winning PanelXPanel, have illustrates trading cards for Marvel, organise panels as part of Dublin Comic Con, and work on the committee of Octocon, the National Irish Science Fiction Convention.

Limit Break Comics was founded by Paul Carroll, Gareth Luby and Gary Moloney. The collective officially launched at Small Press Day 2018, with the release of two short story collections. Seamus Kavanagh officially joined in 2022.

In 2021 and 2022, Limit Break Comics were included in round-ups of the best graphic novels in both the Irish Times and the Irish Examiner, with Turning Roads and Down Below. In 2023, Limit Break Comics was nominated as Best Publisher in the European Science Fiction Society’s Hall of Fame Awards.
