Kickstarter Alert: Original Geek Comics presents Vengeance: Emergence #1
Original Geek Comics, an indie comic publisher run by Nick Helms & Jake Jackson of Arkansas, announced today their Kickstarter for the first issue for their comic Vengeance: Emergence, which is starting July 1st.
Vengeance: Emergence is a story that was first created by writer Nick Helms, almost 15 years ago and has been being developed more and more ever since then. This classic superhero tale has been something Helms has been wanting to tell for a long time, going through different iterations in the journey to get it told in some medium.
Early 2019, Helms decided to pursue making the story in the format that he loved more than anything, comic books. He employed Illinois artist Nate Niles, who did the pencil work on the first issue. It took Helms until 2021 to partner with fellow Arkansan, Jake Jackson, to finish the books by doing inks and will be the artist going forward. Helms & Jackson formed Original Geek Comics to continue telling the story of Vengeance, and have planned out other books as well.
“It took a long time to finally get this story told, but I don’t ever regret anything that has happened in my past,” Helms states, “every step led to me where I am now and so there’s no need to worry about the time it took me to get here.” Vengeance: Emergence is a straight black and white comic, wearing its influences for all to see. “I really wanted this book to be like one of those old school vigilante type books. It is kind of a 90’s vibe, but with some modern storytelling. Overall I think the story will cater to many different people,” Helms ended.
The Kickstarter for Vengeance: Emergence #1 runs from July 1st through July 30th, 2021. Along with the comic, you can get a Vengeance: Emergence t-shirt that is made by artist Jake Jackson.
